About

The Fellowship Music & Arts Academy (FMAA) is a faith based music studio offering music education to students of all ages and backgrounds. This organization, led by experienced Christian instructors, is non-discriminatory welcoming students and families of any religion, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, etc. All of our instructors sign a statement of Christian faith. Shannon Bengford (Founder) teaches private lessons, group classes, and hosts student jam sessions out of his home studio in Tigard, OR. We also have Christian instructors that travel to students’ homes for weekly lessons as well as an office in Beaverton, OR.

All students enrolled in the academy can sign up to attend student jam sessions, audition for student bands, and enroll in group classes which all take place in Tigard, OR.

FMAA uses a dynamic scheduling, billing, and learning management software platform called TeacherZone.com. All scheduling, billing, communications, and assignments are done online. This offers both convenience for parents and an incredible learning platform for students. We use TeacherZone.com and youtube as a video tutorial platform to post instructional videos for our students to supplement their assignments. We strive to constantly learn and use technology to aid in teaching our students.

We are implementing a performance program as our academy continues to grow. The goal is to pair up students of similar ages and bring them together to practice and perform in student bands. These bands will prepare mini-concerts to perform in their communities. This is not only an amazing educational experience for all students, but it also teaches students the joy of sharing their talent within the community (while encouraging and motivating them to practice more). We also offer Worship Arts Training! Christian students can audition to be in the FMAA worship band.

“…be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Ephesians 5: 18-20
